Lakeside rolls out car park management scheme

19/09/2013
One of the most popular shopping centres in the country, INTU Lakeside in West Thurrock, Essex, has rolled out a new car park management scheme in a bid to stamp out illegal parking.

The shopping centre offers 13,000 free car parking spaces, many of which are designated for shoppers with children or disabled shoppers. The new scheme has come about as a result of constant abuse of the spaces by those motorists who should not be using the designated spaces, and it is hoped it will help to alleviate this illegal and inconsiderate parking.

The shopping centre is also aiming to minimise congestion and maximise safety across its car park facilities, and this new scheme is anticipated to offer shoppers a more positive experience if they visit the centre by car. Practical measures will be rolled out in order to ensure that particular spaces are kept free for those that need them.

Marketing manager at INTU Lakeside, Izzie Peskett, told Your Thurrock: “We’re confident that this new approach will make parking here even easier and further improve our customers’ experience of travelling to and from the centre. This has not been designed as a profit-making scheme as any money that is brought in will be used to cover the costs of running the enforcement programme (licenses, staff and signage).”

The new scheme will launch on 1 October.
