Action taken over restaurant parking problems

10/12/2015
Action has been taken to resolve parking problems being experienced outside a restaurant in the West Midlands.

Double yellow lines are going to be painted on the roads outside Badshah Palace in Great Barr. People had been parking inconsiderately near the restaurant, causing problems for the local residents.

Councillors hope that the parking enforcement will bring an end to the issues being experienced in the area, with residents complaining that the problem had been 'escalating out of control' in recent months, the Express and Star reported.

The problems began when the Tower Hill site opened a year ago. Bad parking on the streets around the restaurant had been blocking ambulances from getting past while also preventing people accessing the Co-op store that is on the same site, particularly on the weekends.

Perry Barr councillor Jon Hunt said: "There has been a couple of things going on to make it clearer for visitors for where they can and cannot park.

"Double yellow lines will be put in place to stop vehicles parking on the corner. The lines will send messages to visitors that they cannot park there."

Mohammed Mamunur Rashid, managing director of Badshah Palace, added that the restaurant was working alongside residents and is in favour of the council's help.
